Who We Are

Discussion with Mwenye (Chief) Mchekenje and family at Ndanda Benedictine Abbey, Tanzania.

Our project team is at the intersection of disciplines and approaches that integrate archival imaginings arising from tangible spatial and material components (e.g. architecture, archaeology, heritage, landscape), with the more ephemeral practices of humanities disciplines (literature, history, drama, fine art), alongside other oral and written forms of witnessing and documentation. Beyond our core research on egalitarian archival practice, it is this intersection that can enrich the multi-faceted GCRF portfolio, and the junctions facilitated and made visible between Middle Eastern and African contexts that disrupt categories of national, legal, economic and securitisation frameworks. Our starting point is engaging with locally established groups, organisations and institutions, without positioning ODA countries in North-South dichotomies.
